Adventure Of Link Review

Yes, after the game Legend of Zelda for NES a sequel came out for the NES. This game was The Adventure of Link. This game differed a lot from Legend of Zelda. The major way is that the view for The Adventure of Link is a side view as oppose to Legend of Zelda's overhead view. To most people this wasn't necessarily a good thing. It didn't allow you to see as much as you could on a overhead view and it narrowed the screen. Another thing was that the bosses looked all alike. Most of them are all knight, dragon type things, where as the Legend of Zelda's bosses were all different and unique. Another thing that really sucks about this game is that Link has a number of lives as oppose to infinite. One good thing about this game is that Link has 8 spells and can perform a lot of magic. In the other games there is no magic or hardly any. Some of the levels require a spell or magic that Link has used. It also requires them, sometimes, to be at a certain level.

This game is one of the only games without the final boss being Ganon. This new final boss is Yourself?! Ya it is. A evil sorcerer guy casts a spell and makes you fight your shadow! This is kind of a neat. So many people say that this game sucks and it is a disgrace to all the Zelda Games because it is so different from the others. Wouldn't that make it good? I mean it is unique, very hard to defeat (considering you can't dodge your enemies by walking around it because the game uses a side view), and last but not least Ganon isn't the final boss; Link's Shadow is!! This game is another classic and not one of my favorites, but it is a great game. Who cares if it is unlike the other games. It just makes it more unique. And that is the second game of the Zelda Series.

GRAPHICS: Unlike Zelda 1, Zelda 2 used a side-scrolling camera. In fact, the graphics were very nice, they helped identify monsters. With the graphical upgrade you could see what monsters looked like. Moblins for example. I give it an 8.3

SOUND: A variety of new songs, it was an amazing compared to the old Zelda 1 game. I really thought the sound effects were great; also the music was really creepy when it needed to be. I give it an 8.5

CONTROL: Sadly, on an old NES it’s more difficult to control. Luckily, you do get used to it. Control kind of ruined the game in some ways, for me. I give control a 6.5

COMMENTS: The thing I really liked about Zelda 2 was the fact that it uncovered a lot of the map of Hyrule; also I liked the fact that it had so many towns. It also was a welcome change in side-scrolling gaming, if only all side-scrolling games were like that.

GRAPHICS: 8.3
SOUND: 8.5
CONTROL: 6.5
LASTING APPEAL: 8.9

SCORE (over all): 8.2
